This week the BBC have been celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the UK’s longest running children’s TV show ‘Blue Peter’.

The Technical Team at GB-Sol are always thinking about energy but not always solar! Andrew and Bryn have taken to pedal power for their 20mile round trips to our Treforest factory, both enjoying the many cycle paths that link our workplace to their homes. Andrew charges his electric bike at work using our very own solar power, made and generated on site. GB-Sol is proud to be supporting California Polytechnic State University’s (Cal Poly) attempt at breaking a world speed record.

Cal Poly’s PROVEN lab are targeting speeds of 65 mph in their solar car “Dawn” using only solar powered propulsion. Unlike commercially available electric or hybrid cars, "Dawn" has no batteries, no engines, simply 100% solar PV propelled.

GB-Sol recently completed the manufacture of 25 custom-made solar PV modules for the prestigious Blackfriars development in Central London.

Working with installer Avonside Renewables, GB-Sol were commissioned to produce the bespoke modules to enable a flowing shape to be made with the solar PV array.

Tesla chief executive Elon Musk addressed an audience in Los Angeles as he unveiled his company’s newest energy product – solar roof tiles that look exactly like normal tiles.

Well, miles ahead of Tesla, GB-Sol already offers such a product… the PV Slate. Launched earlier this year, it’s designed to look exactly like natural slate and blend seamlessly into the roof. Each PV slate has an output of 35Wp so its output per square metre is comparable with standard solar panels.
