This week the BBC have been celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the UK’s longest running children’s TV show ‘Blue Peter’.
Back in 1990 GB-Sol’s founder Bruce Cross, earned his very own Blue Peter Badge when the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Car ‘Sunrider’ made its appearance on the show. The Blue Peter episode had been filming the final of a school competition for the International Solar Energy Society to create a solar powered radio controlled model car. The final three entries, including one from local school Bryn Celynnog, completed a course powered solely by the studio lights.
The Solar PV car was driven onto the Blue Peter set by GB-Sol founder Bruce Cross who was a member of the International Solar Energy Society Committee. He was then interviewed by John Leslie and Yvette Fielding. When asked if all cars in the future would be covered in solar panels like Sunrider, he suggested the panels would likely be on buildings and would charge the battery of an electric car… Something now easily done at our own factory!

Happy 60th Anniversary Blue Peter!
