Ethics & Sustainability

The mission of GB-Sol is to deliver renewable energy solutions that are elegant, technically robust and socially responsible.  We are committed to embedding ESG principles into every part of our business — from the traceability of raw materials in our supply chain, to the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, to the transparency of our governance structures.  The work to achieve this is undertaken by the board, the management team, staff members and supported by external consultants.

We believe that transparency and continual improvement are essential, so will publicly report progress against measurable targets for all material topics on an annual basis in line with internationally recognised reporting standards.

Responsible Sourcing

It is vital that our raw material suppliers uphold the GB-Sol social, ethical and governance standards and play no part in slavery, exploitation of children, conflict minerals or other forms of corruption.  All raw material suppliers must uphold our Supplier Code of Conduct.

Environment & ISO 14001

GB-Sol is committed to managing our environmental impact, reducing waste, and promoting sustainability in our operations. We are ISO 14001 certified and ensure we comply with all Welsh and UK environmental legislation.

Social value

As a company manufacturing in the valleys north of Cardiff, we have an extensive local supply chain.  We also work closely with local housing associations, retrofitting solar PV to hundreds of properties each year to reduce their bills and their carbon footprint.

Energy efficiency & carbon emissions

We minimise our carbon footprint, keep our suppliers as local as possible, use recycled aluminium and minimise our packaging.  Our factory has a 70kW solar PV array on the roof, providing much of the power needed, with the remainder supplied by a 100% renewable energy contract.  We are committed to the UK government target of net zero by 2050.  GB-Sol has been top-rated solar supplier in the Ethical Consumer magazine for many years.

Waste minimisation

GB-Sol is a member of PV Cycle and our factory is a registered collection point where broken or end of life solar panels can be brought for proper recycling. All electronic waste is suitably dealt with and recycled under the WEEE regulations.

Local community

As a solar panel manufacturer in the Welsh valleys, we work closely with local housing associations, who are keen to support our local manufacturing.  As well as doing solar PV retrofits to local social housing, each year we also donate several free installations to housing community social projects which assists with team training and builds stronger relationships with our community.
